Made by Zefal, modified by WTB, the 1986 Internal Seat Tube Pumps further my to pack, to blown out jersey pocket quandary. Right now, a major bike brand is trying to tuck away various tools and parts into their lightweight, distance XC frames in an attempt to alleviate bits and pieces that need be lugged around by the rider. Sound familiar? Sounds like 1986 to me. Create a bigger water bottle and sneak a bike pump into the seat tube and like the great Yogi Berra said, "It's like deja vu all over again." The late 80's were a time before C02s so cleanly carrying a pump in a concealed, permitted fashion was pretty slick. The only downside to this system was that hustling down bumpy trails, repeatedly, could batter your chrome legends of Zefal pump a bit, creating a few dings. Other than that, not too much to complain about. We'll see if it sticks this time around with the big boy company pushing similar ideas today.
