WTB-sponsored rider Katie Compton absolutely destroyed her competition this past weekend at the first stop of the Cyclocross World Cup series in Treviso, Italy. Compton attacked on the opening lap, the only rider to match the move was current world champ Daphny Van Den Brand. By the second lap, Compton was completely on her own and she never looked back. By the end of the 16-kilometer race, Compton had nearly 30-seconds on Van Den Brand and more than a minute on most of the top ten finishers.
Compton now wears the World Cup leaders jersey, the next stop of the Cyclocross World Cup series is October 18, in Pilsen, Czech Republic, near WTB's European headquarters. Unfortunately this round of the World Cup is only open to elite men. Katie Compton, and the rest of the elite women, rejoin the World Cup series on November 8 in Nommay, France. Compton's saddle of choice is the Silverado SLT.
