WTB Athlete and Northwest Tech Rep, Kenny Burt, took third place this past weekend at the Lake Sonoma Ricochet Race – 90% singletrack always seems to lure WTB athletes. In instances like these, it’s ok to take third place to famed Tour de France racer Levi Leipheimer and professional road racer Peter Stetina of the UCI ProTeam Garmin-Cervelo (3X U23 road race world championship team member,) not exactly easy competition.
Kenny rode a Vigilante 2.3 29” TCS front tire, Nano 2.1 29” TCS rear tire, Frequency i19 Team TCS 29” Rims, a Silverado Carbon saddle, and Moto grips aboard his new Ibis Ripley, way to go Kenny!
The Lake Sonoma Ricochet was composed of four 4.8 mile laps of hot, loose, dry, singletrack riddled with steep ups and downs. For an area known for its heat, record breaking temperatures Saturday combined with total exposure didn’t make the course any easier. This was Kenny’s maiden voyage on the big wheels, not so shabby for feeling out his new ride!
Big thanks to Bike Monkey for putting on yet another rad event.
