Our WTB Asia correspondent and Racer Daniel Carruthers raced the legendary Mongolia Bike Challenge and shares his tale of events first hand. For starters lets refresh our 5th grade geography. Mongolia is a landlocked country in East and Central Asia, which is bordered by Russia to the north and the Peoples Republic of China to the south, east and west. Mongolia is the 19th largest and the most sparsely populated country in the world (a perfect place for a long grueling mountain bike race).

For those racers out there that crave adventure on an epic scale to do with mountain biking, then look no further than the Mongolia Bike Challenge. It is truly an epic one and arguably the toughest multi-stage mountain bike race you’ll ever do and what makes it even more appealing is that it traverses through some pretty amazing scenery in a forgotten corner of Mongolia. You’ll see valleys, rivers and mountains of untouched beauty and traditional nomads who are still making their lives off the land like they did centuries ago.

The WTB Nano 29er RACE tire I used on my rear wheel held up for eight stages out of the nine stages; took so much abuse over the ROUGHEST terrain any mountain biker has gone over and came through with my seal of approval.
